The World of Acheron

From the hands of the mother they cherished and loved
They tore a piece of the world and left it undone

Overview

Acheron is blessed with peace and hope and torn by war and strife. It is filled with growing nations that are developing into strong forces, while its entrenched pockets of power fear and mistrust change. It is populated by three simple races, but within each race there is much diversity. The civilized nations have carved out prosperous homes for themselves for centuries, but there are still swathes of wilderness where barbarians and monstrous creatures dwell.

The World of Acheron is a fantasy setting. It is designed for Dungeons & Dragons 3.5, but can be adapted for any game or purpose. Information on the world is fully organized by section under the Table of Contents, but the material is not necessarily meant to be read linearly. Feel free to follow whatever links strike your fancy. Below is a fragment from the culture of Acheron. At the bottom of this page you will find the main section headings of the Table of Contents. From Gala's Lament, written by Uquitus, a Grayne Elf of the Guildhouse of Ellendor

Men and steel moved in step,
Until they filled the pass's breadth

The earth itself shook beneath,
And the sky above began to breach

Thunder and fire cresting the tide,
of waves of beasts and creatures undying

Walls of rock and thorns so high,
Sealed the coffin to either side

Screams were cried and tears were shed,
but the druids made sure, none to have fled

But the children of Gala misjudged their power,
And their moment of glory, turned their darkest hour

The grasses and hills so quiet and tame,
Were rended and wrought, never to be the same

From the hands of the mother they cherished and loved
They tore a piece of the world and left it undone
